Medication Use Quality: A PQA Live CE Event will be held on Wednesday, May 10, at the Omni Nashville in Nashville, Tenn., from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT.
This live event will allow you to engage with faculty in question-and-answer sessions and dynamic group discussions and activities. Participants will be able to network with other quality improvement professionals. The price for this live CE is $145 and includes:
- 0.4 Pharmacist CEU
- Breakfast
- Access to course materials online through PQA’s Education Center after completion of the live event
- Access to the remainder of PQA’s newly updated Medication Use CE modules, to be released throughout Summer 2023
If you have previously completed PQA's Medication Use Quality 15 hour course, you are ineligible to earn continuing education for this live event. However, if you would like to attend, PQA will provide free access to one online elective track, which offers 3 hours of pharmacist CE.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this application-based course, participants should be able to:
- Review healthcare economic concepts
- Describe the current state of the US healthcare system and how the Affordable Care Act of 2010 shapes the current system
- Explain how the current system of US healthcare focuses on quality by understanding the National Quality Strategy
- Identify the role quality measures play in the delivery of healthcare in the US
- Compare and contrast the various stakeholders involved in the healthcare quality space
- Articulate various health care quality terms and definitions and be able to describe their significance
- Recognize the role vertical and horizontal merges are playing in shaping the industry of healthcare
- Describe measurement science as it relates to measure development
- Compare types of quality measures, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other performance measures
- Evaluate and determine appropriate quality measures in specific scenarios
- List some of the most common challenges when developing a performance measure
- Describe the basic components of measurement program
- Review myriad of implementation opportunities for measures (accreditation, payment, credentials, and others)
- Recognize various value-based models of care where quality measures are implemented
- Categorize various evaluation systems within CMS and commercial sectors

PQA's Medication Use Quality continuing education program
To learn additional strategies for evaluating and improving quality with an emphasis on real-world examples and best practices, participants will receive free access to all of PQA’s Medication Use Quality CE modules. These modules will be newly updated and released during Summer 2023. Participants can take modules of their choosing or complete the entire Medication Use Quality Certificate.
